4th of July Weekend

What a weekend! We got into VA late and little man was not happy to wake up and move from the car seat to the crib. But after much crying he fell asleep.

Of course when we left SC it was in the mid 90's and VA got to 80 on the hottest day. The above picture is early Friday morning down by the New River. Big Rufus' Mom's family camps here every year. It was cool, so we had to bundle up for the morning but it did get warmer by afternoon.

Here is Big Rufus showing Little Rufus how to throw rocks in the river. As you can see Layla spent the entire weekend taking in the good smells of nature (and other animals).

Big Rufus' cousin on his dad's side has a little boy named Ty. Here he is with Rufus posing for a picture. Every time Little Rufus couldn't see Ty he would scream for him to come back. Ty was very entertaining.

Cousin Ally and Little Rufus on one of many wagon rides around the camp site.

Saturday morning early "Old" Rufus was leaving out on his motorcycle and Little Rufus had to give him one more hug before he went. Looks like Pops should have slept in a little longer.

We met up with my brother Ed and his family in the B-burg for Little Rufus' first trip to Virginia Tech. We walked all over campus including the Dorm that Ed and I lived in (at different times of course). Shanks is now an office building so there wasn't much to see, but my old rooms now over look a hall instead of the outside. Big Rufus' dorm room had a trash drop hanging out of it. They must be remodeling his dorm now. Ed and Anna Beth had plans with their boys to eat at Diettrich Dining Hall, so we all got to reminisce how good dining hall food was.

Big Rufus had almost all of his classes in Randolph, the Mechanical Engineering building. Here are my two guys posing with the department sign.

After a short tour of campus we headed down town for the parade. Here are the boys waiting patiently for the parade. It was short but cute.

Back to the river for the 4th of July pot luck dinner celebration. We estimated between 50 and 75 attendees and there was a lot of food.

Finally partying for the 4th. Remember folks if you are going to drink give the keys to your wagon to someone else.

Here is Little Rufus with Granny Connie's parents. He was pulling up on everything in their house.

Sunday it rained all day long. Little Rufus had to play on the tables so he wouldn't get dirty. Cousin Ally helped him arrange his building cubes, while Big Rufus made sure he didn't fall off the table.

Granny holding the little man for a picture.

Ally posing for a picture with Layla. Little Rufus played catching the rain with his Aunt Patty here is a short video of the two of them playing.
